Not many people know why today is so special to me. Exactly one year ago on August 23rd of 2007 I found out that I was expecting Matthew. A lot of people have experienced this moment. You’re surprised, excited, scared, and nervous all in a matter of minutes. I don’t think anything can prepare you for that moment. I can’t even put into words how many thought went through my head.
I have always wanted to me a mom. Ever since I was little people would ask me what I want to be and I always wanted to be a stay at home mom. I think it was because I wanted to be like my mom and she was the best mom that I could ever ask for. When I found out I was pregnant she was the first one I told because it was quite early and Matt wasn’t answering his phone. I had been waiting so long for that moment I couldn’t contain the news for very long. But he was a close second.
Thinking over the pass year it seemed to go by so quickly but during those months things couldn’t move fast enough. Nine months seems like an eternity when you’re waiting for the most important person in your life to arrive. But when they do it’s worth every doctor visit, every achy muscle, and every pound you put on. Some how you forget all about that and you tend to look towards the future.
Now as I look at Matthew who is almost 5 months I just thank God for blessing me with him. I love the age he is but I can’t help but think of years to come. I imagine his first step, first day of school, graduations, wedding, and maybe even his own children. It’s weird to think that Matt and I will be such a big influence in his life. We will be the ones to comfort him but also be the ones who punish him. We’ll be the one’s he comes to for advice and help. Not only that but he will also be a big influence to us. He has changed our lives forever. Children are quiet an experience but I am looking forward to every moment.
This day is also Matt’s graduation party. We went to a banquet last night for the MBA program and he officially walks the stage tomorrow. I can actually remember the day he decided to go back to school. It feels like so long ago. He has worked so hard with school, working full time, and then a new baby to boot. He’s is quite a husband and father. I wouldn’t trade him for anyone else.
I guess we’ll have to wait and see what happens over the next year.

Congrats to MY first born on his graduation day! It was wonderful to visit with you yesterday. I don't get to see you very often. I'm glad your Grandmother came too. She is so very proud of all your accomplishments!

It's all pretty amazing, isn't it? It's a pretty great ride we're all on.
