1 year old check up

4/26/2009

I've been pretty busy lately but I wanted to post a few things. A week and half ago Matthew had his 1 year well check. Everything went fine. He gained 1/2 a pound. Which is good cause most babies lose weight after walking. But I informed his doctor he eats all the time and pretty much anything. I haven't really found a food that he didn't like. Which Matt thinks it'll change as he gets older but I'm not gunna let that happen. He is now 29 1/4in tall. But I guess he seems taller since he's upright now. He is also usng a sippy cup and straw cups now. One day he took his cousins sippy cup and just started drinking from it. I was shocked and then even more shocked to find out that he had used a sippy cup the whole day Daddy took care of him. So all of a sudden he was able to do it. But that was a few days after his doctor's visit and the doctor told me to try straw cups instead. I had bought some but hadn't had the time to try it out. But while my brother and sister-inlaw were here they would offer him a drink from their straws and he just started drinking from them. Which makes it easier when we eat out. I still have bottles to use cause he still uses them everyonce in awhile. They're still easier for him to use his self. He will drink from a sippy/straw cup but refuses to hold it. So I'm working on that before giving up the bottle completely.

He started walkig last month but now he is officially a toddler. The only thing I don't like about it is that he is a really quiet walker. I could always hear him coming if he was crawling. So sometimes I'll turn around and he'll be there. He's also learning a lot of words. When he hears a word he'll look at my mouth and try to say it. Of course we've been trying to teach him to be polite and all that. Today I was getting me a drink and he said "peas peas" while gesturing for a drink. It was so cute. I was a little surprised he caught on so quickly.

I don't think I posted about Easter yet. We first went to Matt's Grandma Anglim's house for dinner and an egg hunt. Matthew was able to walk around while holding my hand and picked up a lot of eggs. Of course he didn't want to put them down once he had them. I dressed him a blue suit with a vest and tie. It was so cute on him. Then we went down to Lancaster to have supper at my mom's house. Many of you know Matthew is not a big fan of getting dirty but at Easter we wanted to get a picture of him and his cousin in their outfits. So we stood them in the grass and Matthew was standing up. We got the pictures and Matthew wanted to get down and crawl but didn't want to touch the grass. He's started crying and I had to pick him up. He was fine walking in it just not touching it with his hands. Since then he is getting better at being dirty. In fact we went out with some of Matt's family the other night and he tried eating rocks. Which he probably wouldn't have touched a few weeks ago. There was a stage where we were eating and Matthew got up on and was walking back and forth from me to his Aunt Teffy.

I will try my hardest to post new pictures soon. Hope you enjoyed the update.
