16 months old

Matthew is now 16 months old. He is still taking swim lessons and he is getting so much better. The first lesson was probably 15 minutes of crying then the second lesson was like 5 minutes. So last weekend we went down to Matt's Aunt Michelle's house for a pool party. It was such a nice day for swimming. The sun would come out a few times but for the most part it was overcast the whole day. Plus they have a really nice pool that was heated just right and when Matthew and I got in and he loved it. He was kicking and swimming around chasing his water toys. Then he would sit on the edge of the pool and just kick his little legs. It was so cute! I'm so glad he is use to the water since we are going to Houston for vacation for 2 1/2 weeks and my brother has a pool. Anyways Matthew really enjoyed the party. He liked the running around and all the new people. There was a little girl there which she was only a few months younger than Matthew and she was so cute. Matthew always looks at other babies like they're aliens which is so funny.
Matthew has been trying to talk more and more. He understands pretty much everything I say. Which could be good and bad. He said please a few months ago which sounded more like peas but he hadn't said it since then. But the other night he was wanting something from his Daddy and Matt told him to say please and he said it again. Then when he wants his gold fish crackers he says "ish". He has started saying "Daddy" which before he would just say "dada" but he still just says "mom or mum.
He is still a wonderful sleeper. He gets up around 8 or whenver Daddy goes in to say goodbye. The he goes down for a nap after lunch which is usually aroung 12:30p and will some days sleep until 3. Then his bedtime is still at 8pm. Which he is so good at bedtime. I'll say "ready for night night" and he'll wave bye bye to Daddy and Nana. The only problem is on bath nights getting him out of the tub. I pull the plug on the tub and he'll just go over and close it. I've recently set up a twin bed in his room with a railing so he gets use to it. I prolly won't insist he sleep in it until he's potty trained which won't be for awhile. But Matt's mom gave use some frames and the my mom gave us some really nice mattresses so I went ahead and set them up instead of letting them sit around. Which he seems to like climbing on them so whatever. He starting to be able to sleep different places. Before he would need to be in his crib in his room. But the last couple of weeks he has slept on the couch for his naps and then one time he slept in the carseat carts at the grocery store.
He went through a week or so of being a picky eater and not eating as much but that has seemed to pass. He's getting better at getting his teeth brushed. He use to hate it when I would brush the very front teeth but has gotten use to it. I plan bringing him to the dentist very soon since he has about 16 teeth. Hey that's a tooth for every month :). He also needs a hair cut again. I believe it was only 3 months ago he got his first haircut. I give Matt his haircut and refuse to pay $15 for Matthew's haircut so I've been contemplating how to do it. Either have someone hold his head while I cut or wait till he's asleep. I dunno...
This weekend my mom and I had a yard sale and sold a lot of stuff. But we also gave a ton of stuff away to family that came over. We were just going to donate everything at the end anyways. So we thought if anyone we knew needed something we had we would rather just give it to them. So we had about 3 family members that came and filled up 2 vans full of furniture and stuff. Which it was so nice. Our goal is to have the house completely empty by the time we go on vacation so that the floors and ceilings can get done.
I hope you enjoyed the update.
