Matthew is now 17 1/2 months old. It's been a while since I blogged on how he is doing so I have a lot of updats. Earlier this month we took a vacation down to Houston to visit my family. We went for 2 1/2 weeks which was probably a little too long for Matthew to be away. He was pretty good on the flight. His sleeping schedule was thrown off cause we had to share a room and he didn't want to miss out on anything. But we've been back for over a week now and he's back to his same old schedule. He's definitly getting more and more energy as he's getting older.
He has started using silverware and has switched to a booster seat instead of the big highchair. Which I think he actually prefers to be up at the table with us. I have also set up a little table in the kitchen for him to sit at and have a snack or color and soon other crafts. Which he just loves to beable to get in his little chair and sit. He has also started to point at things which before he would just put his hand out for it. Talking is coming slowly but he's starting to try and sounding it out. We've also been working on his body parts and pointing them out. He knows his ears, mouth, and toes. But he still gets confused and if something distracts him forget about it. He's also started coloring. He knows he like crayons and that they color on the paper. He also has learned not to eat them :) He was never known to put stuff in his mouth but he is getting a little more curious. Most of the time he will spit it out cause of the taste but still... He is still a really good eater and rarely refuses anything I put in front of him.
While we were in Houston Matthew started playing with his cousin's remote control car and I told Matt that he really enjoyed it. He knew that pressing the buttons made the car go. So Matt got him one that was specifically for 2 year olds so it is easy to operate and can hold up too.
Matthew also went to the beach for the first time while on vacation. He wasn't a fan of the ocean it's self but loved the sand. In fact the second time at the beach he just layed down and rolled in it. I had to strip him down to his diaper and put him in the car. He was covered from head to toe.
Hope you enjoyed the update.
