19 months old

Matthew is now 19 months old now. This past month has been an exciting one. Matthew has been getting so big a is growing so fast.

Matthew has started sleeping in his race car bed which is toddler size. I added a rail to one side of it and the other side is against the wall. But he could wiggle out the bottom of it. I realized he would wiggle out of it at nap time because he could see because it was day time. At night his room is pitch black. He hasn't slept with a night light since he was an infant. So when he's in his bed at night he can't find the way out.. The darkness also helps him to fall asleep faster. So we are on our second night of him sleeping in his big boy so hopefully it will workout. The first morning after sleeping in his bed he actually slept an hour longer in the morning. I think we'll stick to naps in the crib though.

He has been talking so much lately. He's still not confident in his speech and often whispers his words. But this week he has learned to say Daddy and Mommy which before he would say Dada or Mum. He still hasn't said the word no but he knows how to shake his head and knows what no means. But I am not looking forward to hearing NO! But I love hearing him say a new word everday.

I guess you could say we have started potty training. I still think he is a little young for complete potty training he showed interest in it so I showed him what I could. He knows where the potty his and what he is suppose to do in there. One night I asked him if he needed to go potty and he ran into the restroom. He ended up going number 1&2 on th big potty. So I got a potty that he could use and training pants but when you potty train you really need to put forth 24/7 training. I just don't think at a year and half that he is physically able to go when asked or understand what is going on completely. I just don't want it to be a bad experience for him and then he hates using the potty. But when he's ready I'm ready.

We celebrated Halloween a couple of weeks ago. Matthew was a little more cranky than normal and wasn't eating as much as usually. Since we had planned on going trick or treating I wanted to get him into the doctor before we took him around his cousins or outside in the cold for an hour and half. But the doctor said he was fine and that he was getting his back molars already. Since then they have come in completely and he is back to his normal self. But since it's flu and cold season molars were not even on my mind.

Matt's brother and his wife also came to visit which is always fun. Matthew just loves his Uncle Nathan cause he plays with him and makes him laugh. They came in the day before Halloween so they went to the pumpkin farm with us. We took Matthew to the same pumpkin farm as we did last year and got pumpkins and pictures which will be up soon. Then later that afternoon we made gummy candies which turned out great. It was the first time I had ever tried making candy but it went well. I hope to make candy with Matthew every Halloween.

I hope you enjoyed the update and hopefully we will have pictures up soon.
