1st Christmas : Matthew K. Groves

1st Christmas

This past week Matthew celebrated his first Christmas. We went to his Great Grandma Anglims for Christmas Eve dinner and opened some gifts as well. On Christmas morning he slept in until 9am but by 10 we were opening gifts. Matthew got some small toys and a Mercedes (I had to say it) dump truck. Which he helped Daddy put together. He wasn't into the unwrapping but when he saw that there was something inside the paper he would reach for it. But he was constantly crawling away. We then went down to my parent's house. Nana got Matthew this great little car. It has side rails so he doesn't fall off of it and a tall handle in the back for me to push or pull him around. He seemed to really like it except he puts his feet up on the tires. He got a ton of jammies which he needed. I think he had a growth spirt and with winter he needs footies in his jammies :) My mom made prime rib and so much other stuff. It was all very good.

During the evening we spent the time at Matt's sister's house. Since most of Matt's siblings live here we spent most of the time opening gifts. Matt's mom made us all matching aprons which were so adorable. We had steak with sides for dinner. Which was very delicious because I cooked most of it :) When we left Matthew was already in his pjs and sleeping. We picked my brother up from my mom's and went home. Matthew went right to bed without a peep. Eddie and I stayed up until 2am playing monolpoly.

Funny Story: This was just something funny that happened while playing monopoly. Eddie, my mom, and I were playing together. I owned 3 properties on one side of the boards and my mom owed me a ton of money. She owned the other 2 properties on that same side. Eddie of course tried to talk her out of it seeing that I had plenty of money to develope hotels. Then mom says "what is it when you own all the properties?" We all thought about what the word was. We all three threw out possible words that it could be. So after a few minutes Eddie says "it's a monopoly". We all just lost it. Maybe you had to be there. But it was hilarious. In the end I WON!

Matthew is crawling around like crazy. He stocks Friday, the cat, any chance he gets. He is also in the middle of a growth spirt. His torso and legs are so long. It seems like everyday I'm putting a small outfit into a storage box. But I found these great things today. They are onesie extenders. They are perfect for Matthew cause I can use the onesies for a lot longer. He is still sleeping through the night wonderfully. This past week he hasn't woke up until 9ish.

Matthew had his first night away from home.I believe it was last Tuesday Matthew and I went down to my mom's to visit with my brother and do some shopping. Around 4p I knew it was getting a little icy but I stayed anyways. So around 9p when I decided to head home I couldn't even get down my parent's steps. Everything was iced. So to be on the safe side Matthew and I stayed the night. Matthew was already asleep so I just put him in his crib we keep there. He did great. Never woke up or made a peep. He was very excited about seeing his Nana so early in the morning. Hopefully he does just as well on vacation next week. Which this will be Matthew's first vacation. We are all looking forward to relaxing and having a good time. Matthew hasn't been in a pool since he was just a few months old but he loves bath time so he will most likely enjoy the indoor water park. The day we leave Matthew has his next check up so I will post everything when I get back.
