20 months old

Matthew is now 20 months old. A lot has happened since last month. We celebrated Thanksgiving. My brother, Eddie, came to visit for a little over a week. While Eddie was here we went to the Zoo to see the lights. I wanted to take Matthew beforeit got too cold out. On our way there it actually started pouring down rain but as soon as we got there it stopped. Just before we left it started raining again. Matthew seemed to enjoy seeing the lights and animals. Which because it was dark he didn't see a lot of the animals but we saw monkey's, a bear, bats, snakes, elephants, manatees/fish, and penquins. In the middle of the zoo they had a light show every 30 minutes which was set to music.

Matthew is really starting talk and communicate a lot more. His words aren't as clear as they could be but he's getting there. Sometimes when he's not trying a word will come out pretty clear but to have him repeat it a challenge.

This past week we have been dealing with Matthew's first cold and ear infection. He started out with a runny nose and sneezing. I took him to the doctor's and she said he had a little fluid in one ear but it should clear up when the cold does. She prescribed over the counter cough/cold medicine but in less than 24 hours he started getting a fever. Within 48 hours he had a fever of 102.6 so I took him to urgent care and he had a full blown ear infection. So he went on amoxicillin which is the first antibiotic he's ever been on. It seemed to help and the fever went away. He looked like he was feeling better but after 3 days of being on it he suddenly got a rash on his belly and chest. So the doctor took him off the amoxicillin. Which it turns out both my dad and his mom,my grandma, are allergic to it as well. So unfortunatly we now just have to let the infection run it's course and hopefully it goes away. In the mean time Matthew is extremely grouchy and uncomfortable.

Matt and I have had a very busy month as well. We had a ton of things scheduled right when Matthew got sick. Luckily my mom is always willing to watch him and he is really good for her. We attended Star Wars in concert which was really nice. It was more of something that Matt was interested in but I ended really enjoying it. They had an orchestra and choir which were awesome. Then a few nights later Matt's company had a Christmas party at the Crown Plaza Hotel downtown. It was probably the best Christmas party I've ever been to. They had food and a dj. They also had casino night which is something Matt and I have never done before. We each got $1000 of fake money to gamble with. The whole thing was just for fun so the dealers were really nice and having fun as well. We played roulette and black jack most of the night. The dj also played a few songs and gave people more fake money to get up and dance. So Matt did 1 song by himself and we did 2 songs together and we made a few $1000. They also had a buffet and open bar which is usually wasted on us since I'm not a big drinker and Matt was more into the gambling.

While my brother was here he helped me put up mostof my decorations. We've plann.ed on getting our tree but with Matthew being sick we keep putting it off until he gets better. We put up a tiny tree in the living room on a short table with a train around it. But no decorations cause I wanted to make ornaments with Matthew.

I hope you enjoyed the update. Next update will be on Christmas.

Let the record show that an open bar is not usually wasted on me, but I was too distracted by the fake gambling this time. Also, in Soviet Russia, you are wasted on the bar.
