8 months, 8 teeth, and crawling
12/08/2008
Matthew is now 8 months. He has started getting 4 more teeth. The teeth on both sides of the top and bottoms are in or are close to it. He's getting really good at chewing. I use to break is puffs in half but now he eats them whole. He still has no interest in feeding himself. But he has started to hold the bottle just doesn't hold it near his mouth :).
He has also started to crawl forward. Of course he mostly gets around by rolling then scooting and then he gets into a sitting position. Sunday I first saw him crawling forward. We were in the basement wrapping gifts. I looked over and he was just crawling away. Then he realized I was watching him and he set up. But he got about 4 feet from where he was sitting. He's still pulling up. He gets most of his practice by pulling on me. He also loves our remote so if he sees it he'll get to it. I left it on the couch and he pulled up to get it. Now that he thinks he has the hang of it he doesn't like to sit. When he is standing and we try to sit him down his whole body goes stiff so he ends up laying down. The only problem with him pulling up is once he's up he feels no need to hold on. Then he just tumbles to the floor. When he wants to stand with me he constantly wants to let go of my hands. We have been walking with him and he takes such tiny steps. But he wonders all over the place and always finds something to get into.
Recently Matthew had a rash that the doctor thought was Roseola but she now thinks it was a heat rash. It went away for a week then came back for a couple of days. Which Roseola doesn't do. I had scheduled a doctors appointment when the rash came back but before we went in it had already heald. So she thinks that because it heald so quickly that it was just a heat rash. It was probably caused by the fact he has been sleeping on his stomach. Which he has just in the past few weeks started doing. It's really cute too because he sticks his butt up when he does sleep on his tummy. But as an infant he never slept on his tummy. If he fell asleep during tummy time I would roll him over. But since he can roll around he does until he is comfy. Plus Roseola usually starts with a fever and coughing which is when the child is most contagious. Which Matthew didn't have. Then after those symptoms are gone the rash appears and they are no longer contangious. But his rash came on suddenly. He felt fine, no fever, or cough, and the rash didn't bother him. But for now he's all better.
Also Matthew's Uncle Eddie is coming up for 2 weeks over the holidays. We just found out that my brother, Bobby, and his wife, Carolina, are expecting a little girl still due in May.
I hope you enjoyed the update. New family pics will be up soon.
