I was really happy to hear that my Grandfather would be visiting this year at Christmas time. He picked a great time, as my nephew Anthony was just born, and he has yet to see either Matthew or Anthony. Additionally, my father was also able to make it (which isn't necessarily a given, since he travels so often). So, not only did my son get to meet my grandfather, but we were also able to get this picture of all four of us together.

Also, I don't mean to brag (yes I do), but this picture is especially meaningful since Matthew Kevin is currently the sole heir of the Groves name, at least as far as I know. The Groves family is very prolific, but there are a lot of girls in my generation and my predecessor's generation.

My grandmother (on my father's side) also brought a great keepsake to give to us as a gift: a monogrammed spoon used to feed me as a baby when my family would visit them. Since Ali & I can't visit them in Florida as often as my parents used to visit them when they lived in Ohio, this is like the next best thing. Plus, it will make a great heirloom, especially if my son decides to name his son Matthew (but also if he doesn't!).
