Graduation and stuff
8/26/2008
I meant to write all this a day or so ago but oh well. Matt officailly graduated on Sunday. Matthew and I were there to root for him as we are both so very proud of him. He looked so nice with his master's rob, hood, and gold honor cords on. It all kinda hit me when he finally walked the stage and held up his diploma to show me. I'll admit I got teared up thinking of all the hard work he has done to get here. Then I thought he didn't do all this for himself but for Matthew and I as well. Not to mention our future children. So it just made me even more proud. Matthew was awake during the ceremony and behaved very well. I was worried about the clapping and yelling because he gets startled very easily. But he seemed to be very interested in his new surroundings. So when I yelled "GO MATT" he was fine. But as soon as the diplomas were handed out so was he.
In other news Matthew has a check up tomorrow. I am looking forward to it probably more than he is. He gets his second round of shots which he did okay with the first set. I'm curious to find out how tall he is. He is doing pretty well on cereal. He definitly takes in more than he spits out. I'm kinda hoping the doctor suggests other foods. You know something different. He is doing more and more tummy time lately. He has been able to hold his head up 90 degrees for a while but just yesterday lifted his chest up with his arms. As for crawling he does that on his back. I have this mat thing that has toys hanging from it and in a matter of a minute he will scoot off of it and be on the carpet. That mat also has things that criss cross across it so he was standing and I had him hold onto them. They were small enough so he could wrap his hand around it. Then he held on and stood for a few seconds all by himself. He is also getting very verbal especially in the evening when Matt gets home. I still have him on a good bedtime routine. He is sleeping around 12 hours a night. Usually 8p-8a but he is awake when he goes to bed so I'm not completely sure when he falls asleep. Then he is really good about waiting for me to come and get him in the morning. I know he is only 4 1/2 months but he is such a nice little boy.
Just a little story- I often lift Matthew upside down which he just loves to do. Now even though I do it I don't want anyone else to. But Matt doesn't really like it. So the other night Matt was sitting on the couch and he put Matthew on his shoulders. You know like people do with there kids. Anyways I told Matt "oh you can do that but I can't hang him upside down". Then he replied "but I am in complete control". Just at that moment Matt screamed then said "he has my hair!" I just had to laugh. But Matthew had such a grip on Matt's hair that I had to step in and help. Matthew had so much of Matt's hair in his little fist and in such a grip that his hand was white. It was just one of those moments.
Today I got great news from my family in Houston my brother Eddie is coming to visit next month. It will be the first time he meets Matthew. Also my brother Bobby and his wife, Carolina, called to let me know they are expecting their first child. I am so excited and happy for them.
Hope you liked the update.
