Matthew is 6 weeks old

This morning Matthew reached 6 weeks old. He spent his first night in his crib and did really well. I wasn't planning on him leaving us just yet but it just happened. Last night Matt and I were discussing when we should move him into the crib and I had said maybe just a few more weeks. Then Matthew woke up for his 2am feeding and was a bit fussy about going back to bed. So I layed him in his crib and turned on the mobile. He drifted right to sleep. Expecting him to wake up any minute I stayed in the room for a good hour or so. Then hooked up all the monitors and went to my own bed without him :( . The transition seemed to be more difficult on me than him. I was not able to sleep because I was listening for any sign of him needing me. He woke up for his 6am feeding like clock work and then went right back into his crib and slept another 2 hours. By this time I was exhausted and did end up falling asleep. As much as I will miss him next to my bed I know he enjoys his crib and is better off in it. He is growing like a weed and when he kicks he shakes the bassinet. He was just ready for bigger bed I guess. Another member of the family that is very happy about this is Friday (our cat). Who was literally bouncing around with excitement that she was allowed back into our room. Since she has been kicked out every night since Matthew has been born. Hopefully this is a permant change and we can store our bassinet away for our next child.

I don't think Austin was totally done with the bassinet until he was just way to big--like 4 months old. Of course it still stayed in our room, next to the bed, because I was worried he would fall out--it was used as a buffer! He slept better in his crib than Brittany but overall--crib equaled giant toy box/linen holder/"I have to go to the bathroom so you stay here a minute"! I'll be there soon, and he can just sleep next to me!
