Matthew's 8 week check up

6/04/2008

I took Matthew for his 8 week check up today. Can you believe it he is almost 2 months old? He weighs 10lbs 11oz and is 22in long or tall as Matt likes to say. They said he is growing just fine and is where he needs to be in weight to height ratio. He received his first shots today. He cried when they first stuck him but was fine after that. But because of the shots we are to avoid visitors over the weekend. He is also now allowed to start sleeping through the night. So I will start working on cutting out the 2am feeding. But he goes right back to bed after every feeding anyways so it's not really that bad. After 8 weeks I'm pretty use to it. But he has picked up a bad habit. He will for no reason cry out while he is asleep. I have not yet experienced this. While my family was here he did it to Crystal. She heard him on the monitor, got up, and made his bottle and then realized he was passed out in his crib. He also did it to my mom while I was taking a nap. She went upstairs 3 times before just bringing him down stairs. But he hasn't done it to me yet. He is still sleeping in his crib. In fact he has not even been in the bassinet since. I thought maybe he would go back and forth but nope. So he is doing really well. He doesn't have to go back to the pediatrician until he is 4 months old.

In family news- Matt just finished this quarter of school and has 1 week off then will start his LAST quarter. He is only taking 1 class so this summer should be pretty easy for him. As for me I said goodbye to my family this morning. It was so great having them here. My sister-in-law (Crystal) was so much help to me. I really appreciated her coming all this way just to be there for Matt, me, and Matthew. They have made me realize how much I miss my family and wish I could live near all my brothers and sister-in-laws. I am working with Matt on moving to Houston in the near future. As for me I am still enjoying being a stay at home mom. I love seeing every smile and every new milestone. His pediatrician says he should start laughing any day now so I'm watching out for that :) I couldn't imagine leaving him everyday. I feel very blessed to be able to stay home with him.

Also Matt and I will be celebrating 5 years of marriage on the 14th. My mom is watching Matthew so we can spend the whole day together. We plan on going out to eat, maybe a little shopping, and then seeing a movie. Wow how time flies. Well I hope you enjoyed the update :)
