R.I.P. Papa

4/13/2009

As many of you know my dad passed away this morning. It came as knd of a shock to us. The doctor told us this morning that he wasn't doing well but they were going to transfer him to hospice at the VA in Chillicothe. Then just an hour later he was having trouble with his blood pressure and breathing problems. My mom was able to go to his side just before he passed away. I was already driving to the hospital to see him so I arrived shortly after. We knew he had many health issues we just didn't expect it to happen so fast. But we didn't want him to suffer. I mean no one wants anyone to suffer. So I am glad he went peacefully with my mom by his side.

The last time I saw my dad was on Matthew's birthday. It was also the day my dad had his hip repaired. He was in the ICU recovering but I knew he would want to see Matthew on his birthday. So I took him back and my dad was so happy to see him. He would always tell the nurses that Matthew was his favorite person in the whole world. He wished him a happy birthday and held his hand. Although Matthew may not remember my dad I'm glad my dad got to meet him and enjoyed spending time with him. Matthew would always sit on my dad's lap playing with all his pens. My dad would download cartoons and play them on his laptop. Matthew would just sit and watch them with him. But Matthew has definitly helped distract me from everything going on. You can't help but smile around him.

Family members are coming in and we will be making arrangements this week. So please keep us in your prayers.

-Ali
