Teddy blankets
4/14/2008
Matthew received a very special gift this week from his Great Grandma Groves.
When I was born, she sent me a teddy bear blanket that she quilted herself. This week, Matthew received a quilt made using the very same pattern. As you can see below, they aren't identical (mine is the dingy one on the right, obviously), but they are very, very similar. In addition, she also sent the pattern along, addressed to my mother, so that she can sew the same quilt for the next generation of Groves children.

I'm not ashamed to admit that I used this teddy blanket up until the first year of my marriage (thus why it's so worn and dingy looking). It was (and is) a very comfortable blanket due to years of use--like a broken-in baseball mitt. After I noticed the stitching starting to come out, Ali decided to store it away safely.
One additional note about that picture is that the three of us are all wearing baseball attire, which wasn't planned.

If I had a Teddy Bear blankey I would use it.
